March Wrap-up

I know, there's still two days left in the month but I'm not going to try to squeeze another book in. Well... I'm not planning on it, anyway.

Here's a list for what turned out to be a very good month, reading-wise:

26. Mercy Falls by William Kent Krueger 434
25. From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Kenigsburg 162
24. Valley of Silence by Nora Roberts 318
23. Dance of the Gods by Nora Roberts 316
22. Morrigan's Cross by Nora Roberts 321
21. Driving Force by Dick Francis 318
20. Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs 294
19. Under Orders by Dick Francis 369
18. Decider by Dick Francis 318
17. Winter Study by Nevada Barr 370
16. As Shadows Fade by Colleen Gleason 342
15. Come To Grief by Dick Francis 308
14. Widow's Walk by Robert B. Parker 294

That would be a total of 13 books! I don't think I've ever done quite so well since I started keeping track. If I've added correctly, which I'm never completely sure about, that's a total of 4,164 pages in 29 days, or a total of 144 pages a day! How in the world did I get anything else done?

This month saw me returning to some old favorites that I haven't visited in awhile - Dick Francis, Robert B. Parker, and Nevada Barr specifically. It was like visiting friends I hadn't seen in forever and it was such fun! I was also able to find a new author - Nora Roberts - that I will be investigating further. My sister says she's got every book Roberts has written. Why do I think that's not the best thing she could've told me?

And finally, the hardest part of the month: saying good by to some much loved characters. Colleen Gleason has taken us all for a wonderful ride and the parting from her characters will always remain bittersweet. Again, thanks for the wonderful trip, Colleen. I'm glad I didn't miss it.

Next up will be Copper River by William Kent Krueger mainly because the bastard ended Mercy Falls with such a cliff hanger that I can't resist! Good thing it's in my TBR stack...

So, how was your March, reading-wise?

DesLily -

I think part of my success was the fact that I was on nights, which gives me some time to read. And let's face it, doll, you had reason for having a bad month. It'll get better.

I know! It's impossible to believe we're a day away from April! It's the one time of year, however, when I'm not sad to see the months flying by.

I'm VERY impressed with your month! 13 books is awesome! I haven't even read that many in the whole year. It's fun to be excited about reading! Does your reading slow down during the warmer months?

Goodness gracious! You had a fantastic March. I'm plugging along a little slower than I was last year, but that's OK. I've never read anything by Nora Roberts--you have me curious.

Thanks. It was by no means a normal month for me. I have no idea how or why I went on such a binge but it was fun. I'm not sure if it slows down or not. I've never paid attention, really, but I certainly will now. I'm a huge baseball fan and normally have a game on when I'm not busy but I also read while I'm watching or listening to a game so, maybe not.

I surely did. It's kinda cool. She surprised me. I mean, she's definitely a romance author - happy endings and all of that but she writes beautifully. I enjoyed the characters in the Circle Trilogy and I'm looking forward to the next series my series recommends.

13 books is awesome! I'm glad you liked the Nora Roberts paranormals :)

I really did. I don't know why I was surprised. It's clear from the number of books Roberts has in print that she's a good writer.

I LOVE Robert Parker! He's my favorite mystery writer of all time; don't you love his Spenser character, and the relationship he has with Susan? If only real life was like that... ;)

I did not like Come to Grief by Dick Francis, but maybe that's just me.

You had a great month, CJ; lots of books accomplished!

Well, including children's books and a photography book, I read 20. Yikes! To be honest, I didn't get anything else accomplished. I need to take a week off from reading. You had a fantastic month! I love Mrs. Frankweiler! And, I've been laughing about your little Houdini. :)

The relationship between Spenser and Susan is one of my favorite things about the books but I've got to admit that my favorite relationship has to be the friendship between Spenser and Hawk.

Come To Grief was a hard book to read because of the subject matter, what with the horses being mutilated and the girl dying of cancer. I can see why you wouldn't like it but I do like Sid Halley.

I find myself wondering how you and the others get as many books read as you do. It's kinda nice to hear you admit you're human like the rest of us, doll! The Mrs. Frankweiler book was interesting and Little Ms Houdini is really something else. There are times when I am seriously afraid of what she might do next.
