It seems to be official

I am in a slump.

Nothing I'm reading is compelling enough to keep me reading. I pick up a book and lose interest after a few pages. A different book, same thing. I have no idea why.

Anyway, since I'm not reading much, I thought I'd take a page from DesLily's book, so to speak, and treat you to a couple more photos. They were all taken at the bay while I was on a walk with the dog.

First, the remains of a dock. I really liked the composition for some unknown reason. It's like that with photos at times, isn't it?

Then we have some forget-me-nots. They're all over around here in the spring and I do love them.

Another one that appeals to me without my knowing why. It's not spectacular, but there's just something about it.

And finally, one more of Little Miss Houdini. The minute I open the windows, she camps out on the sill, especially in the kitchen where the sun is. There are days when I would love to be able to join her...

Reading slump or no, your pictures or gorgeous! I love the one of Miss Houdini in the sunshine.

Trish -

Thanks! She loves curling up in the oddest places and the window sills are her favorite.

I have a window in my living room where the screen needs to be repaired. The cats have discovered they can go in and out through it so their latest things is to slink out the window and then cry at the door to come back in or scare the heck out of me by jumping in through the window.

It's never a dull moment around here, I tell you.

I can say I miss being around all the cats that david and my brother had.. when a window opened six cats ran for the seat of honor !! lol.. at times two cats would squeeze their bodies to lay in the sun on the windowsill

(more bird pics today)

Is that part of a tree? I like it too!

I'm going through a (hopefully) mini-slump right now as well. I've definitely got books to read, but I can't get into the stories. *sigh*

That happened to me a while back and i took the advice of my fellow bloggers: don't pressure yourself, and start out with a light fluffy read. Hope that helps.

Your kitty looks and sounds just like mine. He loves and open window.

I hate reading slumps. Hope yours doesn't last long.

They sure keep me busy, I must say. In, out, in out... goofy things. And I love your bird pictures, especially since they're birds I'd never see.

Well, it's safe to say it was once part of a tree. Now it's pretty much a huge chunk of drift wood and roots.

Diane -

Thanks. I know I just need to keep searching for the book that will grab my interest. I actually read a pretty good chunk of one book last night, which is a good thing.

They are definitely attracted to any window I open. I'm with you - I hate slumps and I hope this one is already on its way out!

Those reading slumps are no fun. :-( I have a tendency to take a break from book reading when I feel a slump coming on. I'll read magazines or get back to my letter writing (which is sorely neglected these days) or some other hobby that has fallen by the wayside.

I love the photos! Especially the one of Miss Houdini sitting in the window. :-) My Parker likes sitting in the window too. Riley likes to jump up in the cat bed by the office window and look out now and then. He'll curl up as small as he possibly can and nap there too. It's really too small of a bed for him, but he sure tries to make it work.

You asked about recommendations in a comment you left me. I thought I'd stop in here with them to make it easier. Have you read anything by J.A. Jance? She writes three different series right now. You might like her Joanna Brady series if you haven't tried it already (Desert Heat is the 1st in the series). Sara Paretsky might be another one you could try if you haven't yet (1st-Indemnity Only.

I'm drawing a blank with paranormal series. You've read more of them than I have. I hear Rachel Caine's weather warden series is good, but I haven't read it myself yet. I did like the two books I read recently by Mary Stanton, Defending Angels and Angel's Advocate. Nightwalker by Jocelynn Drake is good. A bit different. It's gotten mixed reviews though, so you might want to see what other say before giving that one a try.

My husband suggests Lawrence Block's Burglar series (1st - Burglars Can't Be Choosers). I haven't read them yet myself though, so couldn't say.

I'm not sure if any of these would pull you out of a slump, but it may be worth a try. You can always see if you can find an excerpt of one of the authors' books online and give it a taste test first.

Great suggestions, which I knew I'd get when I asked. Funny thing - I've looked at Block but my little library is so pathetic that they didn't have the first book in the series. I'll have to check back to make sure or see if I can find it on line.

I've heard of Jance and Paretsky so maybe I'll give them a try.

Thanks bunches for the help!
