Due to a fight with my DSL provider, I've been internet-less all weekend. I've felt cut-off and isolated the entire time.
But...
I did manage to rearrange my living room and my bedroom, both of which needed a good cleaning. And when I get restless, I move furniture.
I also managed to weed through my TBR pile and take out those books that I know I will not read. Either I've lost interest or, after reading a page or two, know that they aren't for me, for whatever reason.
Besides that, the fur kids and I just took it easy. Max is still gimpy but Maddie seems to be good to go. They both want out all the time now but neither is getting out for awhile yet. That's all I'd need - for them to go out and not come back for a couple of nights. I'd be a wreck.
I hope you all had a good weekend.

That's one of the great things about having an older cat, I guess. Our Spooky still goes outside, but she doesn't roam far at all. Usually, I give her about 10-15 minutes to play or soak up the outdoor smells and then open the door and there she is, waiting on the porch.
I'm glad Maddie's better and hope Max's limp isn't anything major. Spooky had a limp, once. When I took her to the vet, he put her down on the floor to watch how she walked and she just strolled along, perfectly fine. He said, "She's faking it, but if she can fake it she's probably just a little sore from landing wrong when she jumped off a window or something like that."
I didn't know cats could "fake" not limping!!! Sure enough, she limped when we got back home but it only lasted a couple more weeks and then she was back to normal.
Have a great week, CJ!!!
It's amazing what you can get done without Internet, huh? I know I'd be a lot more productive without it. Instead of reading or doing bills or weeding through my outrageous TBR stacks, I'm sitting here blogging. Shameful! :)
Glad the babies are doing better--but hope Max's gimpiness goes away soon!
Once school slows down a bit, I'm going to do a major revamp of my bedroom. Take out all the furniture, clean the carpet, put some of the furniture back in, put in that other dresser that's the exact size I need, and buy a bookcase that's tall, not wide.
My original plan was to watch the 1940 version of the movie, but the library didn't have it! I definitely plan on watching that, though. Alfred Hitchcock's movies are absolutely fascinating. I remember Laurence Olivier from the 1940 version of Pride and Prejudice. I don't know if I can picture him as Maxim after that. It should be interesting. Did you read Mrs. de Winter? That's a sequel that was written by a different author not too long ago. It wasn't nearly as good as the original, but it was still really good.
I hope your animals get up to 100% soon! I know how worried I get when my dog or horse gets hurt.

Maddie sticks fairly close to home and is never out for very long. Max, however, wanders and is often gone all night.
I think he hurt himself climbing over the wooden fence in the backyard. I had no idea they could fake not limping either but it's interesting information. He's doing better with it but now I've got to wonder because I told him he couldn't go back outside until he was walking on all fours and bingo! He was putting weight on his front foot.
He's still in for a few more days until I make sure. Goofy cat.

The one thing I was able to do that I didn't mention is go back to my writing. I picked up on a story that I really want to finish and wrote over almost 5,000 words this weekend. Plus, I proofread another story and fell back in love with it, so hopefully I'll keep it up.

School slow down? When does that happen? Dorms here at my university open this coming weekend and classes start the 31st! I can't believe it's that time already!
The 1940 version is wonderful - dark and moody and Hitchcock! Olivier was wonderful as Maxim, at least in my opinion. And the actress that played Mrs. Danvers was too creepy! I haven't read the book but may check it out.
The animals are doing better each day. Both cats are driving me crazy wanting out but neither is getting out for a few more days. I'd be a nervous wreck!
