Sunday NaNo News, part 3

I love my new computer. Really. It's pretty. It's sleek. It's fast.

It has software I'm not familiar with.

*sigh*

I lost several pages of my NaNo project because I wasn't paying attention to the new word processing program. It asked me if I really wanted to replace a file and I said yes without taking the time to find out what file I was replacing.

It was not the one I wanted to replace.

As a result, I lost several pages and something like 2,500 words. I thought I'd lost almost 5,000 but I'd figured wrong.

Bottom line?

I like what I had to redo better. I think. There's now a scene that I really like that wasn't there before.

That is the nature of NaNo.

It'll drive you crazy if you let it.

I'm currently at 28,516 words, which puts me ahead by two days. Things are still going well, in spite of operator error. My main character, Honor, is sorting things out slowly. Xavier, the good guy is still doing his own sorting. And Orly, the bad guy? Not quite sure what he's up to yet but I'm confident I'll figure it out.

I'm sorry, CJ. I remember when I first got Office 2007 last year. It took me a while to get used to it--and I still sometimes have issues with it.

Sounds like you are making good progress with your book. My husband's at the point where he'll be happy to write 10,000 words, I think.

It taught me to slow down and pay attention to what I'm doing, that's for sure!

I'm doing good. I'm happy with it, anyway. Is this hubby's first time doing NaNo? My theory is, just giving it a go makes you a winner.

This is his second time. His first he gave up. I think that was a couple of years ago. He doesn't do well with time lines, I'm afraid. About four years ago, he wrote a book over the course of a year. He's only done a little writing here and there since then. I'm glad to see him writing again.

Way to go. I am bit behind on my own self imposed word count, but when the weather goes south so fast and sucks your energy and stamina bone dry there is only so much I can do in that regard. :)
