"I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of Library." - Jorge Luis Borges (1890-1996)

So...
Here it is, Tuesday morning, the seventh of September.
Very, very early Tuesday morning.
Since I am no longer on nights, why, you might ask, am I still up?
Two reasons.
One, a pretty good book that kept me reading to finish it long after I should've turned my light out and two?
My bed is shaking.
Literally. Almost enough to give me motion sickness.
That's what happens when a 118 pound dog is lying on it, trembling because of the thunderstorm booming away outside...
The weather forecast calls for scattered t-storms in about 30 minutes... so here I am, trying to fill the time in until she calms down and I can try to sleep.
The book?
Finished it. It was pretty good.

It's been forever since I stayed up all night reading. My eyes usually stop cooperating sometime much earlier. I hope the storm calms so you can get some sleep. Poor dog. My Riley seems to get more excited with the thunder, but the cats like to hide.
Well, to be honest, I'm also adjusting to a shift change. I've gone from working straight nights to working three afternoon shifts and two day shifts, but my body still thinks it needs to be up at night.
It blew out about 5:40ish and I was finally able to sleep, for a little bit.

Aw....hope you adjust to your new schedule soon, CJ! I hate adjustments :( And I hope your doggie gives you a break from trembling in fear of thunder soon too :p She's so precious!! And you can't leave us in suspense! What's the book??

Getting there, slowly. Friday and Saturday will kill me - that's when I work day shift. I hate day shift. Just in case you didn't know that.
The book was pretty good, with one of those can't put it down endings. It's the second book by a newly discovered author, Paul Gruley. I honestly do plan on getting a review up soon.

No more nights at all??? Is that good or bad?
Glad the book was good, sorry Riley was such a scaredy cat (or pup). Strangely I don't think our dog is frightened by the storms but sometimes the cat will give her a good shake!
LOL--just read your comment to Chris about hating the day shift. :)

No, just no nights for now. We rotate shifts every four weeks. So, in another two weeks (I think) I'll go to a shift of three afternoons and two nights and then in four weeks back to nights.
Riley is the dog. The cats are Max (the Siamese) and Maddie.

don't know how I missed this post! I had a shepard that did the same thing ! until she grew too big she'd crawl under my bed and hell nor high water couldn't get her out.. she did the same thing on the 4th of july when you could hear fireworks !

The family dog when I was in high school was a spaniel/lab mixed medium-sized one. He'd crawl under my bed and lie there and pant. Gotta love 'em.
