Chipmunks
When I was a kid, spending summers at a cabin on Lake Superior, one of my favorite things to do was feed the Chipmunks and watch as they packed their cheeks beyond full. I was always amazed by how much they could get in their. We'd feed them unpopped popcorn or dog food and by the end of the summer we could get them to eat out of our hands. I loved it.
They would play games with the dogs, sitting on top of the wood pile to chitter at them, especially when the dogs were in the cabin. After enough teasing, one of the dogs would burst out the screen door to chase them... but they never, ever caught them. The second the door started to open, the Chipmunk disappeared into the wood pile and safety.
Those were good days.

Thanks. I know a lot of people think of them as pests but dang, they're cute.

They're cute until they take up residence in your attic and you are in the basement and you look up and there is one looking down at you!

One time, at the cabin, I was standing at the stove and turned to get something out of a drawer behind me. I'd just pulled the drawer out when something attached itself to my arm. I was almost too afraid to look... but it was a chipmunk and I'm not at all sure which of us was more frightened.
So, yes, there are times when they're not all that cute.

OOOOOOH, I LOVE the red!!
When we were little we would vacation in Maine and I remember my sisters and I gathering up all the acorns we could find so that we could lure in the chipmonks. We were never successful but oh I wanted to hold one so badly!
This little guy in the video is cute.
