Well...

I'm still here.

Not any more active, besides adding books to my read list but I'm here.

Sifting thoughts time?

This is turning into another summer that isn't. Cool temps and rain... and, lucky me, every time a new front moves in with rain and thunderstorms, I get hit with a wave of migraines. Three days this week. I'm thinking winter may not be such a bad thing...

It's a horse show weekend this weekend and come hell or high water, I'll be there. Missed the last one due to a migraine. Go figure. If I can get the camera to cooperate I'll try to get some shots of the niece and her new boy. They did very well during the first weekend so hopefully it will be another good one for them.

To refresh your memories and because I need a photo... here's a shot of the new boy:

It's an old one, he's gotten bigger, but I like the shot.

Good grief. In 18 very short weeks she will be a grown up, married woman. I am not ready for that. Not really. How do they grow up so fast? Trish, if you read this, give Elle a big hug for me, okay?

Speaking of weddings, she's asked me to read something at hers. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I can't find a thing I like...

Work is pretty much good this time of year. Few classes, few students living on campus but we do have camps that rotate in and out on a weekly schedule; athlete camps, science camps, robotics camps, fire fighters camp, forensic science camp... it doesn't end until August. They don't create much business for us, however.

The fur kids are doing fine. The cats are screwy, the dog is the dog, and I've got bunnies living upstairs. They are not mine and I'm not thrilled they're there but the kids I have living with me are good kids so I'll cope. I warned them, however, that if anything bad happens to bunnies because of dog or cats, they were forewarned. Riley is a sweetie but she's killed squirrels... well, one squirrel.

I should be cleaning my living room right now. What with the horrible week, migraine-wise, my living room should be condemned... Another reason I hate headaches.

Well, there doesn't seem to be too much else in here, so I'll wrap it up for now. Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend!

Hi, CJ. I'm with you on loving Winter best; sorry about your migraines. We've been getting nothing but rain here, too, and we're glad it's not floods or tsunamis at this point. But, it's hard to ride one's bicycle when one's path is constantly a river...

As to what to read for the wedding, I so love Eccl. 4: 12 with the cord of two strand is strong, but three is not easily broken. The third being Him, amongst the couple, who strengthens us all. You'll find the right thing, I know you will.

Today, thankfully, is bright and sunny and no headache! I'll take it. And you're right, no floods, tsunamis, earthquakes... I'll take that, too.

I like the idea of that verse but not so sure how my niece would feel about it. She's not overly 'religious' whatever that means.

Thanks for the suggestion, though!

I know. All it has done is rain here lately, too. It's depressing!! And the temps are no better. There have been nights where we have considered turning the heat back on! By the time the weather gets nice it will be snowing again! :(

I actually hear you on the growing up fast thing. Lorrie's little guy is going through a growth spurt and has his first girlfriend. I can't help teasing Lorrie about it all. :)

LOL--I had just sat down to read this post yesterday when the little chickpea started crying. I did get to the part about hugs, so she got one for you. ;)

Hope the weekend ended up being a good one without too many migranes. Leave the cleaning for another day. Relax a bit. How was the horse show??

I recently read where there are people who study the sun who are now saying we're entering a mini-ice age that will be brought on by a lack of solar activity.

Seems to be about right. At least around here.

Trish -

That little darlin' is just too cute.

As for the horse show, it was pretty much a no go. Something was bothering Levi to the point that he threw my niece off in the arena. She's sore but okay. He's getting checked out. Hopefully it was just his back being out of alignment or something easily fixed. He's normally a sweet tempered guy...

And I'm glad it happened before I got out there. I don't like seeing her come off her horse.
