"I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of Library." - Jorge Luis Borges (1890-1996)

There are words and there are words...
As readers, we all love words, don't we? We love the rich use of language found in our favorite stories. We love the ebb and flow of those words, the vivid tapestry they paint...
And then, there's this:
Over heard on a radio spot produced by the FBI. The ad was detailing a recent investigation into a man caught stealing from an ATM.
"... agents swooned in from all directions..."
"Swooned in"?
Really?
Let's pause a minute and picture that:
The criminal, wearing a cheesy wig to hid his identity from the ATM cameras. Our stalwart and brave federal agents lying in wait until the precise moment and then...
They charge in and... swoon.
I don't know about you but I can easily picture something along the lines of Bozo the Clown standing in front of an ATM with a dozen immaculately dressed FBI agents in dark suits and white shirts lay scattered around on the floor compliments of their mutual fainting spell.
For some reason, I don't think that's the image the FBI spokesperson quite wanted to convey.
*Sigh*
I do love words.
Both when they're used properly and when they're not.

Well...
I'm still here.
Not any more active, besides adding books to my read list but I'm here.
Sifting thoughts time?
This is turning into another summer that isn't. Cool temps and rain... and, lucky me, every time a new front moves in with rain and thunderstorms, I get hit with a wave of migraines. Three days this week. I'm thinking winter may not be such a bad thing...
It's a horse show weekend this weekend and come hell or high water, I'll be there. Missed the last one due to a migraine. Go figure. If I can get the camera to cooperate I'll try to get some shots of the niece and her new boy. They did very well during the first weekend so hopefully it will be another good one for them.
To refresh your memories and because I need a photo... here's a shot of the new boy:
It's an old one, he's gotten bigger, but I like the shot.
Good grief. In 18 very short weeks she will be a grown up, married woman. I am not ready for that. Not really. How do they grow up so fast? Trish, if you read this, give Elle a big hug for me, okay?
Speaking of weddings, she's asked me to read something at hers. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I can't find a thing I like...
Work is pretty much good this time of year. Few classes, few students living on campus but we do have camps that rotate in and out on a weekly schedule; athlete camps, science camps, robotics camps, fire fighters camp, forensic science camp... it doesn't end until August. They don't create much business for us, however.
The fur kids are doing fine. The cats are screwy, the dog is the dog, and I've got bunnies living upstairs. They are not mine and I'm not thrilled they're there but the kids I have living with me are good kids so I'll cope. I warned them, however, that if anything bad happens to bunnies because of dog or cats, they were forewarned. Riley is a sweetie but she's killed squirrels... well, one squirrel.
I should be cleaning my living room right now. What with the horrible week, migraine-wise, my living room should be condemned... Another reason I hate headaches.
Well, there doesn't seem to be too much else in here, so I'll wrap it up for now. Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend!

So...
It's my birthday.
I am officially now 52.
Funny, doesn't feel any different than 51 did.
The one thing that is different, is the fact that I'm pondering pulling the plug here. I haven't posted since the beginning of May and I've got to admit, I don't miss it. I occasionally think I should get some reviews done but I find myself thinking about it more out of guilt than desire.
So, after four years I may be done.
I've done what I set out to do.
I've met some great people.
But...
One question, for anyone that wants to answer it -
If I do decide to pull the plug, do I leave the blog up or delete it?
Thanks for everything, you guys. It's been a fun four years.
